Russia cyber attacks are ‘major threat,’ Congress probe hears.

Russian cyber attacks pose a “major threat” to the United States, top U.S. intelligence officials told a congressional hearing on Thursday despite skepticism from President-elect Donald Trump about findings that Moscow orchestrated hacking of the 2016 election.

Although Trump called himself a “big fan” of the intelligence community on Thursday, he is heading for a conflict over the issue with Democrats and some fellow Republicans in Congress.

FLORIDA- On the last morning of 2016, President-elect Donald Trump tweeted wishes of “love!” to his “many enemies” and people who have battled him and “lost so badly.” “Happy New Year to all, including to my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don’t know what to do. Yahya Jammeh: Calls Ecowas Intervention “an Act of war”

Gambian president, who refuses to accept poll defeat, warns regional troop deployment could lead to escalation.

President Yahya Jammeh says the West African community’s decision to send troops into The Gambia to force him to accept defeat in last month’s presidential election, is “a declaration of war”.

Leaders from the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS deployed troops to The Gambia on Thursday after Jammeh said he would not accept the results of December’s election, in which he lost to opposition leader Adama Barrow.

Ghana: Akufo-Addo wins presidential election

Nana Akufo-Addo of the main opposition party New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been declared winner and president-elect of the Republic of Ghana.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana declared the final results on Friday night with the NPP flagbearer beating the president by securing 5,716,026 votes making 53.85%. “By the power vested in me as the chairperson of the electoral commission and the returning officer for the presidential election, it is my duty and my privilege to declare Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the president-elect of the Republic of Ghana,” EC Chairperson Charlotte Osei declared.
